Custom Product Names to Use For Printed Labels
You may have long product/variant names that can't fit on a small barcode label, which is frustrating because you don't want to shorten it too much just for printing a label. We have a solution for that by using Shopify metafields, allowing you to keep your product names but also specify a new field just for the label used for printing.
- In Shopify, click on the Settings on the bottom left of the navigation bar. Click the "Custom data" on the left.

- Click the "Add definition" button at the top and enter in the following. You can change the name but don't change the namespace and key because that needs to be a certain way so that StockSavvy recognizes it.

- It's easiest to access the new metafield in your variants if you pin it, which you can do by clicking the "Pin to variants" button like this.

- Now you will have a new field that you can add in every variant. Here's how you would add a "label name for printing" in a variant. Go to a product, click on a variant, and then scroll down. You'll be able to set the label name for printing.

- In StockSavvy, you can then choose to use this new "label name for printing" when you create your label template (or change your existing label template to use it).
